How It All Started
Hi, I’m Rucha, a solo founder building Uma.
Last year, I connected with 200+ women founders on LinkedIn from all over the world. A pattern kept repeating in their posts: even with real traction and clear execution, funding conversations felt like a maze, optimised for warm introductions and guesswork rather than true fit and merit.
The data backs this up. In the U.S., startups with at least one female co-founder captured ~25% of venture dollars in 2023, yet all-women founding teams received only ~3%, a stubborn gap that doesn’t reflect capability.

On the investor side, I kept hearing a different but related frustration: most inbound pitches don’t match their thesis (sector, stage, check size, geography).
