UMA
Founder × Investor

Capital access should start with alignment, not proximity.

Finding the right capital can still depend heavily on who a founder knows, which introductions they can access, and how easily an investor’s mandate can be understood. On the other side, investors can face a growing stream of opportunities without enough context to know which ones are worth pursuing.

Uma is building a more structured starting point for both sides. Founders can express what they are looking for, investors can define what they seek, and potential alignment can be surfaced through relevant information and context. The aim is simple: make it easier for both sides to find the conversations worth having.

Why Uma Exists?

It started with a pattern.

After speaking with more than 200 women founders from around the world, a recurring problem became difficult to ignore: strong companies were still spending too much time navigating fundraising through warm introductions, fragmented information, and guesswork about investor fit.

The problem was not simply finding capital. It was finding the right capital—and giving both founders and investors a better way to understand whether a conversation made sense.

Uma is being built by Rucha Bhatt, with the ambition to make capital discovery more relevant, transparent, and accessible from both sides of the market.

UMA / OUR POINT OF VIEW

Capital discovery should work differently.

Capital decisions are shaped by relationships, reputation, timing, information, and judgement. Uma was built around a simple belief: better access is not enough on its own. The goal is to make it easier for the right people to find one another, understand the opportunity, and decide what deserves their attention.

01

01

ACCESS AND ALIGNMENT ARE NOT THE SAME

Getting into a conversation does not mean there is a reason to have one.

Networks can open doors, but they do not necessarily reveal whether a founder and investor are well suited to each other. Uma is built around creating another starting point—one where relevance can matter alongside access.

02

02

THE RELATIONSHIP SHOULD BE MUTUAL

Founder–investor discovery is not a one-way search.

A founder is deciding who could be the right partner for the company. An investor is deciding which opportunities belong within their mandate. Both perspectives matter, and neither side should be reduced to a profile waiting to be selected.

03

03

BETTER INFORMATION SHOULD COME EARLIER

Too much of the decision-making around a potential connection can happen with limited context.

The earlier both sides can understand the company, the investor, and the reasons a conversation may make sense, the more deliberate that first decision can become. Uma is being built to improve that starting point—not to make the decision for either side.

04

04

TECHNOLOGY SHOULD LEAVE ROOM FOR JUDGEMENT

AI can help people find patterns, interpret information, and navigate possibilities. It should not decide who deserves a conversation or where an investment should be made.

Uma is designed to assist discovery while keeping judgement, diligence, and the decision to engage with the people involved.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

What is Uma?

Uma is an AI-powered founder–investor matching platform designed to help founders find aligned capital and investors discover relevant opportunities through structured criteria, semantic understanding, and transparent alignment signals.

Who is Uma built for?

Uma is built for founders raising capital and investors looking for opportunities aligned with their investment theses.

How is Uma different from an investor database?

A database primarily provides access to information. Uma is designed around alignment between founder needs and investor preferences, helping both sides identify potentially relevant opportunities rather than searching an undifferentiated list.

Does Uma use AI?

Yes. AI-assisted capabilities support areas such as structured criteria generation, semantic analysis, pitch-deck insight extraction, and deal briefs. These capabilities are combined with structured information and explicit alignment factors.

Does Uma choose the right investor for a founder?

No. Uma identifies and ranks potential alignment. It does not guarantee investment fit, investment success, or any particular outcome. Investors and founders remain responsible for their own decisions.

Is Uma an investment advisor?

No. Uma provides discovery and alignment signals; it does not replace investor diligence or provide investment advice.

Is Uma available now?

Uma is going to start private-beta soon. Access is controlled, and prospective users can request access.

Why does Uma focus on alignment?

Because access alone does not create a useful fundraising relationship. Uma is designed around the idea that founders and investors should have better signals about potential fit before investing time in a conversation.
